A new released report from the World Energy Council (WEC) say that South Africa has the potential to become a new shale gas producer.
South Africa will has the new needs of electric power around five million KW in the future.
Shale gas resource near the Karoo basin can meet about 4% of this needs of electric power.
For this purpose, South Africa will strengthen infrastructure, make sure the supply of the water resource, foster domestic skilled talents in South Africa. And also provide financial support to related company.
On March this year, a statement issued by government, they will start the exploration on Shale gas.
They said, Shale gas exploration is a real chance field for South Africa.
Exploration activities will start next fiscal year, meanwhile, this will bring a wonderful prospect to mineral separation. Also can make the mineral products and energy resources more valuable in South Africa.
